Man...

A review of Spiderman 2 before I tell you about my day:

I'm getting a little tired of the damsel in distress routine. Heroes are more than damsel savers, I would've thought. And I would hope that damsels have a little more to them than distress. NightKrawlr pointed out to me that she was a bad actress... I really hadn't thought about it, I assumed she was just playing a bad actress because of the character. Now I'm beginning to think she just feels that comics are too ridiculous to take seriously... which may be true... afterall, I've heard comics be called the soap opera for guys...

Anyway, in the original Spiderman movie, I was actually pleased with a few of the changes made from the comic port... for instance, spiderman no longer had to invent a web-shooter, making the webs a power that ANYone could have. I woulda thought he would be impressed with the powers he had already without having to make web shooters. But in this movie, there was a particular change that didn't set well with me... Spiderman's powers are controlled by testosterone! He apparently loses them the less manly he feels.

Other than that, I was also made fully aware that the gravity of a newly-forming star was pulling cars from all the way out to the streets of New York, yet it didn't seem to be pulling neither Doctor Octopus nor his trenchcoat toward it. Rather impressive technology there... recognizing what not to affect with gravity.

With all of that said, it's still a movie worth going to see for fans of spiderman. Certainly better than X-Men's sequel, to say the very least.

Okay, so now on to the news of the day...

Three weeks ago, I was given a requested schedule sheet. Prior to filling this out, I was quite content with the hours I'd been getting. So on my sheet, I wrote exactly what it seemed I was getting. 30-40 hrs. in the span of 4-5 days a week. It should've been simple enough, right? I'm pretty certain most everyone else was giving them exact requests like "I need 40 hours a week! BWAH!!" Now I'm certain that the managers have had trouble coloring inside the lines since kindergarten. This last week, since filling out the requested schedule sheet, I've had 48+ hours of consecutive morning shifts (by the way, before the requested schedule sheet, I was getting night shifts, which I had told the booth manager was my preference, and it worked out smoothly because Sandy prefered morning shifts). I requested no more than 40 hrs. because I knew that I couldn't handle more than that in a week, and especially not a morning job. I don't know if it was the Airforce or AMC, but I seem to have some sort of insomnia complex now. And for those of you speculators, the 48+ hrs. wasn't because they needed my help, there were plenty of other people in booth who were complaining that they weren't getting enough hours that week.

During this 48hr week, though, L33ch had decided that he was going to tell me "Yeah, I can take you to work," which was a norm we had set up, he'd tell me the day before if he can take me to work, and whomever of us was awake at the time would wake the other. Well the next morning he blew me off. Went straight out the door and there I was on the couch, exhausted. I get a call later from my manager, informing me that I'm 30 minutes late. Mind you, I may have overslept at times, but I've always prided myself on being punctual anywhere I go, and for the most part being places anywhere from 10-45 minutes early. But that didn't seem to matter... I hadn't earned up a life's worth of credit toward being late one day, instead I was given a written warning, a warning which will tell any future potential employers that I am someone who doesn't put any amount of consideration toward punctuality whatsoever throughout the course of my entire life. Not to mention it tells the same thing to my more cynacle co-workers (I wanted to make a very hostile work environment for that bitch, too).

But that wasn't the worst of it, though. This week I had been given 27 hours, still the managers struggle to color inside the lines. But after last week, I don't really feel that I'm missing out on any pay. Just yesterday, though, I came into the booth to find that Daniel, the person I was relieving for the day, was far behind schedule. He was in the process of threading a movie that was supposed to be running in ten minutes, and there were still 3 or 4 other projectors he hadn't caught up with, yet... I had to help him out, or the consequences would've weighed on me throughout the course of the day. I hate being behind schedule. I think it's a virgo thing. So I finally get him caught up to 6 o'clock, which was when I came in to relieve him, and started his projector... I turn around so that we can go do a walk-down, and find he's already gone. I understand his position, though, I don't like staying in there any longer than I have to, either. But he still neglected an apparently important duty.

So what is walk-down? Well, walkdown is what happens when a booth operator relieves another. What they do is they walk through the booth, checking all the projectors and making sure everything is threaded properly and that no movies are being scratched or have been scratched since the day before. The reliever is the one who does the checking, but the relievee gets to stick around so that they can discover what it is that they did wrong and learn for next time, not to mention if I scratched a print during my walkdown, I could easily have blamed it on him if he weren't there to say otherwise. Rather than doing walk-down on my own, however, I got caught up the rest of the way so that I'd be back on schedule. You can see where this is going. Later, the manager discovered that a print had been threaded incorrectly, and it was running up against the corner of a roller. Daniel had made a mistake that he made himself famous for during his training, only now we've all supposedly passed our training... so now it's not cute anymore, it's wrong. And since it was spiderman 2, it was the most horrible thing that could be done. But because I was supposed to have done walkdown with him, I get canned. I grant that in technicalities I am the one at fault here, though Daniel should also have been checking his work after threading, which puts us both at fault. So many things could have stopped this from happening, if someone more reliable had been working that day, if the managers didn't tell the booth manager to cover and silence that particular auditorium, even if I had been there 15 minutes early to help Daniel catch up so that we could've done walk-down before he darted out the door... or even if he had stuck around after 15 minutes of catching up so that we could do walkdown anyway... or if I hadn't trusted Daniel to thread properly and checked it myself, or maybe it wasn't that I trusted him so much as that I'm not used to having to check work since I've always been capable of doing it right the first time. Does it ever seem like fate has it out for you sometimes, though?

So about three months ago, though, Delana took me to a fortune teller. Apparently in three months I was supposed to come by some kind of fortune. Oh yeah, and she also said that I should start trusting my girlfriends (that's the third time a fortune teller has told me that, now, unless you don't count Psychobat who never actually mentioned trust at all). I hope losing my job isn't the fortune she was talking about, if so, I want Delana's money back!

Oh... and Paranoia is gone, which means we'll be needing new roommates soon or I'm going to have to start looking for a new place to live. Kenni is sticking around 'till August, but that won't help much, especially with things the way they have become.

"Aw, what's the matter, your smart ass missing a wise crack?"

-Bluezy Bunny

My prayers were answered in the form of Michael Moore?

Okay, so I didn't really do any praying and I'm certainly not going to say Michael Moore is an angel. Still, I'm glad someone found a way to expose Jr. for everything he's been doing (well, everything save for the homosexual rights issues). If people weren't enlightened before, I would certainly hope that they would be now. Theatres were packed for this movie, and I had only heard about it thirty minutes before I came in to work yesterday.
Don't know what I'm talking about? Fahrenheit 9/11, it's a movie which details the wrongs that Jr. has been doing to America that most Americans may not even realize has been going on. Maybe I don't really care for Kerry much, either, but considering independents never win (and even if they do, the government never expects it so the independent candidates have to back down *cough*Perot*cough* in favor of the main two candidates, apparently. I guess the government wants someone that they have better control over), I'm thinking we'll have to just wade around waiting to figure out what Kerry's angle is. And maybe, just maybe if Paranoia ever watches this movie he'll start believing me as to how difficult finding a job has been this last year. Maybe.
For some odd reason, my father doesn't want to run for president... but why shouldn't he? Delana was the one who brought it up. He seems to understand most of the issues, and he needs a job anyway, not to mention he's always wanted to take part in space programs. What better way to do so than as president, eh? Father for president! *Starts handing out the buttons and banners*.

Oh yeah... one last thing, I was kinda disappointed by the ending of Stepford Wives... I don't think I'd be giving that guy a second chance if he even thought about turning me into a robot. Garr... 'specially if I had to go through all that effort to convince him not to. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if she thought that no other guy in the world has the capacity for understanding things like this.

-Bluezy Bunny

Fuck you, Beccaman.

That's all I have to say. Fuck you. Do I tell people about the time you picked your nose with a remote control? No. Do I tell people about the time I caught you in your room with a vibrator? NO! Do I tell people about the time you left the pizzeria on Sunday and make sure everyone thinks you're irresponsible because of it? Fuck no. So you know what? Fuck you.

By the way, I passed my booth certification early with a 38/39. I'm not sure what I missed, but I'll find out the next time I work. I'm thinking it's probably a technicality, something I knew but worded wrong. We'll see. Anyway, I get to see Spiderman 2 before any of you!

Oh, and... it seems through the grapevine I was supposed to discover that my father intends to propose to Delana. It's cool with me. I'd like to think my father is happy. I'm not too sure about my mother, though... sleeping with a guy who has a family... oi. I guess commitment and respect isn't on her expectations menu right now, though.

-Bluezy Bunny

Merry father's day...

So I'm a little late, but I have a really good excuse. You see, I thought I wasn't getting enough free time before, but this week my schedule included 48 hours of non-stop morning shifts all before the test days for booth. The test is kinda important, and though I'm really good with tests, I'm told that this one involves memorizing six propagations (d'oh, I mean 'criteria'), and that's one of the few things I actually have to study (because it's not something that just makes sense, it's mindless memorizing). I'm not sure what my manager was thinking, though, did he want me to work as many days as possible before the test to make sure I absorb every bit of booth that I can because he wants to make sure I pass, or did he realize that by getting me used to night shift and then switching me to non-stop morning shifts that I would quickly lose the ability to sleep properly, not to mention that I would have no real time for studying (work, sleep, work, sleep, play city of heroes for an hour or two due to insomnia, then work again). What really bothers me, though, is that on our requested schedules sheets I wrote down that I'd need anywhere from 30-40 hrs. a week in the span of 4-5 days. Everyone else in booth is trying to get as many hours as they possibly can. When I looked at the schedule for this week, though, I had 48 hours, our blue shirt had 30-something, and everyone else had less than 30. What the hell!? I overheard Frank talking to the manager, asking why he wasn't given more hours, and later offered to give him a few of my days, but since he never worked we couldn't get in touch after that... so then I gave today to the blue shirt... 'cause I needed this free time badly. Oi. Firstly because I haven't talked to important peoples for a while, secondly because I was actually an hour late to work yesterday from over-sleeping (if you know me, I've never been late anywhere in my entire life, (that I recall, anyway) normally I'm at least 10-15 minutes early everywhere I go if I don't need to wait for a ride), and thirdly because I wanted to spend some time with my father this father's day, or at least Saturday or Monday (today). From what I see, though, my sister abducted him on Saturday, so I guess it's good that I'm getting him monday (I'd rather not take him out to dinner on the weekend of a holiday. I hate waiting in line). Oh, fourthly because I don't want to go back to ushering. I need to pass this test. Not just so that I can continue working booth, but because we're having a private screening of Spiderman 2 come June 29th, and only certified booth operators are permitted to screen movies. And I want to see this!

I'd like more time to draw... or to just be creative in general. I wanna write music and do voice-work and even make preliminary character sketches for Psychobat's coming company thingy. (Not sure what the name is, but ever since I was 4 or 5 I've always wanted to make video games).

Other than that, some things I've been thinking about while I thread projectors are that I have no idea how most of you couples met... I mean... I know my sister and her wife met in school, but I'm not sure if I've heard the entire story. I'm pretty sure Strider met his wife on the drawing board. And I know for certain that I have no idea how Psycho and his wife met. The rest of you... if you've got relationships I've never even heard of... tell me the story! And especially those of you whom I've mentioned. I like hearing about how couples meet. So I'm a bit of a romantic. So sue me.

"Drugs fucked up my life and I didn't even have to be the one stupid enough to use them." -Voice~Man

-Bluezy Bunny

Yay, monkees!

Sorry this took so long... and now, Bluez's views on movies:

Lately I've noticed a lot of movies aren't even original anymore. You've got the ones based on old books, the ones based on video games, the ones based on old wars, the ones based on old TV series, and the ones based on old movies. And then you have the sequels to those movies. Granted that there are some exceptions, such as Kill Bill (which proves that good movies and originally don't necessarily go hand in hand), I've come to understand that I can only expect unique movies to come from cartoons anymore (with the exception of those based on cartoon series *cough* spongebob *cough*).
It doesn't seem that hollywood understands what people want to see anymore. They just churn out what's sold well for them in the past, forgetting that people have already seen it. Like Epic Games, they stick with where the money comes from rather than taking a chance at playing with genius ingenuity. It makes sense for them, of course, but the rest of us suffer because of it. We pay money to see a movie that looked good in the trailers and find that it's just another rehash of some movie that was made at least ten times before.
Honestly, this has come up before, but I believe more emphasis needs to be put upon the writers than the directors. It's the plot, story, and characters that make a movie interesting, not the camera angles and scenery (granted the director has some say in character, the writer is the one who puts the most effort into making the character work with the story). I see all these bad or over-used movies coming out and it pains me to know I could be doing so much better than they are, yet they're the ones getting paid for it.

With all of that said, here's what I've seen of the movies so far from working at AMC:

Chronicles of Riddick - Wow, I saw the trailers for this and all I could think was that it was just another action movie with no real substance. I was hoping the guy from triple X would prove me wrong, though. Apparently he didn't. Yesterday, working in booth, we actually had to change the movie schedule for Saturday because so few people wanted to see Riddick. That's pretty sad. Instead their attention was turned toward the Stepford Wives.

Stepford Wives - Another remake of an old movie... I wasn't on the side of the booth that it was playing on, but apparently it was more popular than Riddick. Which I find just a little disturbing, considering it's just a remake of an older movie. I guess people just like what they're most familiar with.

I, Robot - Ever notice how when there's one movie that's expected to be popular coming out, there's always another movie that comes out that has very similar elements to it? I mean... We've got I, Robot here (which is based on an old book, mind you) and then the Stepford Wives which was considerably easier to make as a movie, thus it was released sooner to take away a few robot fans from it, I suppose... or maybe to whet their whistle for the bigger movie, who knows? Anyway, old book means old ideas, and here we have the book that I'm sure Terminator was inspired by only now it's in the form of a movie... again. If you like rehashed action movies and/or Will Smith, then go ahead and see this. Honestly, though, I'm not a huge fan of either.

Harry Potter III - I'm not a very big fan of the books, and as predictable as it was, it was an entertaining movie anyway. I certainly wouldn't have paid money to see it, though (and thankfully I don't have to), but if you're a fan then it's definitely something you'll want to see.

Raising Hell - I refuse to call this Raising Helen... the play-on words don't even make sense here. I'm not sure if the person who came up with this title even realizes what they did. Regardless, I watched this movie not because I wanted to see it, but because I was screening it and it got me out of the booth. Anyone who knows anything about this movie knows that it's a definite chick-flick, and after watching it, I understand its purpose even less... I'd imagine it was supposed to trigger an emotional response of some sort, but I just couldn't get into it. Maybe if I were a single mother, or if my sister had died, leaving her kids to me... maybe then I would have understood it. I really don't know. I strongly urge you not to see this movie unless you fall under at least one of these categories, though.

Shrek 2 - I've pretty much seen the entire movie without actually having sat down in an auditorium and watching it. I took peeks at it every chance I got while working in the booth. From what I've seen of it, it's a very entertaining movie. There really isn't much more I can say.

Garfield - I had this mindset, without knowing much about this movie, nor having seen trailers, that this movie was going to be how Jon Arbuckle got Garfield... and there was going to be an underlying love story involved. One thing I didn't see, however, was that Jon would be working at a kennel. From what I've been told, Jon is a cartoonist, not a veterinarian. Well, there was an underlying love story involved, and yes, Jon got the girl. The only reason to see this would be if you're an avid fan of Garfield or if you haven't seen a typical story with an underlying love interest before. The only reason to pay for this movie is if you're an avid fan of Garfield.

Troy - I'll tell you now that I don't really care for war movies. From what I've seen, they are all exactly the same, only the time period is the difference... one side is right, one side is wrong, there's people on the right side who aren't happy with things going on in the wrong side, and there's people on the wrong side who aren't happy with the things going on in their own side. You've always got the noble commander, the brave heroes who have no personality outside of the military and every single one of them has a family back at home, and if they don't, then it means they're expendable characters or badasses. Hollywood knows you'd be sad if a soldier with a family died, so they ease the pain by not giving these people families, you see? Anyway, nobley they fight on, war is always a sad thing, and the director makes sure the audience understands this... and then blows a few things up because guys expect it. The most advanced technology of the time is always involved in some way, no matter how far out of their way they have to go to do it, and brilliant tactics are always displayed by the 'right' side, whether they win or lose, and a huge clash in just before the end. And then the sentimental ending, of course... Troy is no exception, apparently. I've seen only one war movie that doesn't fit into this apparent war-norm, and that is Full Metal Jacket.

Soul Plane - Yeah... go watch porn, you get more bang for your buck.

Day After Tomorrow - Another movie based on a book, this one was very disappointing because the world DIDN'T end... what the hell? Since the movie didn't follow the book at all, I wonder, was the writer (or does this fall into the director's department?) trying to convey a message that humanity has become better than the hand of god or what? If you like typical movies with happy endings, go ahead and see this, I suppose... it's not worth the money nor the time it takes to watch it, though, I say.

So... other than that, is there anyone who plays City of Heroes? And... what server? 'Cause I can't go back to FFXI after playing this.

-Bluezy Bunny

Where have all the Bluezies gone?

I apologize that I haven't been on much lately for those of you who are actually disappointed by it. The rest of you, I hate you all. Oh yeah... and I apologize if I've been relatively irritable... lack of sleep and over-work tend to do that. And considering I'm making six bucks an hour which totals to $6 * 40 = $240 - $40 in taxes = $200 per week, I'd have to say I've earned the right... I'd think I'm more deserving since I'm one of the few who don't screw up more than ten times a day (I think my record is 3, and that was my first day). I know what you're all going to say, 'it's better than nothing' well that's all fine and jim-dandy, even I'll agree it's better than nothing, but you'll have to agree I'm better than this. You have to... it's the law.

Oh, did I neglect to mention that on opening day of our AMC the managers seemed to be impressed with my military background in computer work and deemed that I should be put into projector booth immediately? It's kinda cool. I much prefer the booth, but only this week did I discover that my pay rate is still that of an usher... I figured with the responsibility involved operating expensive equipment and film that I'd be getting paid substantially more... at least that's how it is with Cinemark (or so L33ch tells me). I'm thinking of asking if they need the extra help. From what I hear, I'd only have to operate half of the theatre's projectors and nothing else... meanwhile at AMC, I'm repsonsible for the entire theatre (which gives me an average of 5 minutes of leeway time an hour assuming I pace myself, which I do) and I'm told I'm going to be learning how to do other things during my *cough* downtime... like splicing film and how to organize things and some other stuff I'm probably not aware of yet.

And I can only get cherry icees for free if I bring my own container... I wonder if anyone would mind me carrying around a huge-ass 7-11 mug all day, taking regular restroom and refill breaks, and all this while threading projectors... hrrmm... *strokes chin, pretending to think*. Might make it worth staying here... but I still do like having both sleep and free time. Right now I got neither (except today, my special off-day... yay).

"You can call me a workaholic, but only because I'm drunk at work."

-Bluezy Bunny

It's about that time again.

A wise ass once said that the root of absolute craziness lies within a person's inability to think in a straight line... or something to that effect. Namely that a person will think in circles and keep repeating a thought over and over in his head to the point where he cannot think clearly any longer.

I'm getting there.

It's time again for another bout of pro-equality speech. I may be preaching to the choir here, but some day someone will get tired of me and go assassinate Jr. for me. I've gotten involved in yet another debate on the topic, only this one seems to be more civilized... so to speak. You see, we've discovered that inviting people into a thread under the guise that it is in favor of anti-equality (or more specifically against homosexual-marriage rights), that Jr. has a very large influence over people that he takes for granted and abuses on a regular basis. As it is, I've only found one person in favor of anti-equality willing to stick around and defend his position. In the end, it turned that he hadn't thought about a heterosexual couple whom remain abstinate through their marriage. Asside from that, every person who is against marriage rights has stepped in, said their piece, and left before their opinions could be debated... just like Jr. Apparently not many people are confident in their position to justify it or back it up with facts, and it could very easily be the fault of our own president.

I've decided to open a FAQ, or perhaps it would be better to call it FAF (Frequent Argument Fallacies) so that rather than waiting to find someone willing to debate the subject, I can instead hope that someone will read my piece before they say something and leave. I garuntee you that at some point if there is a debate-worthy question or argument that I'll try to get to it. I do have an open mind, hence remaining agnostic. However, I have not yet been introduced to a valid argument against the favor of homosexual marriage rights.

FAF #1 Homosexuality is a sin, according to the bible, and therefore America should not allow homosexual marriages.

While it is correct that the King James version of the bible clearly states that homosexuality is a sin, it's also one of the many contredictions that occur in the bible. Nowhere in the ten commandments does it say "Thou shalt not have sexual relations with someone of the same gender." And I'm pretty sure it also says in there somewhere that to stay clear of sin you need only avoid breaking any of the ten commandments. I've heard people tell me that god is an omnipotent being... and if he is, he would definitely have seen this coming any amount of time into the future. I doubt any omnipotent being whom can see into the future would become so fickle when writing his own book. It's more likely that King James, or perhaps someone else had altered the bible to better suit their interests, or perhaps a translation was lost somewhere along the way. One thing the christian god did see, however, is adultry. I don't see anyone fighting to make adultry illegal in America, though.

With that said, the bible has nothing to do with America. You can tell me its morals were founded upon the bible, and I might believe you, however America was founded first on the concept of freedom of religion. What this means is that whether or not homosexuality is a sin according to someone's religion, christian or otherwise, a person has the freedom to do as he pleases so long as it does not interfere with the freedom of another.

Besides... "Judge not, lest ye be judged yourself." You can't deny that you're asking for it when you deny people rights based on your own beliefs.

FAF #2 But wait! If you let homosexuals have their way, you're opening pandora's box! You may as well let people break every other law while they're at it.

This is something I've learned long ago in English class to be the 'association fallacy argument'. Giving a homosexual the right to marry another consenting homosexual is not akin to giving a man a gun and allowing him to shoot someone. In our first case, we have two consenting adults whose freedoms are unobstructed by their decision to bond in matrimony. In our second example, however, we have the one man who is taking away the freedom of another man, either by wounding him or killing him. The difference between the two is that in our first case we have freedom for all, and in our second case we lose freedom for one, if not many more. This is hardly comparable.

One other thing that comes up a lot is that homosexual rights will lead to other things, such as incestual marriages, polygamy, beastial marriage, and perhaps adolescent marriage rights. This is something I've also learned long ago in Engilsh class to be the 'snowball-effect fallacy argument'. Whereby someone will state that one thing leads to another which leads to certain doom, but doesn't explain how these outcomes tie to eachother. Of course I can see how homosexual rights may lead to polygamy rights... afterall, it's perfectly acceptable in certain religions. Perhaps the government wouldn't be very happy paying several people extra because they all decided to live with eachother. I can really see that happening. I'm more than willing to take this on a case by case basis, however, because each case really is unique and needs to be voiced. I do have thoughts on the other three, however.

Homosexual marriage cannot compare to incestual marriage, beastial marriage, or even adolescent marriage. A brother and sister, two brothers, or even a niece and uncle are already given family ties which need not be altered. If someone wants to argue with that, be my guest, I actually don't care if someone marries his own dad, but my point is that there is a key difference between homosexual marriage and incestual marriage. As far as beastial marriage, we have not yet learned to communicate accurately with species outside of humanity, and though dolphins are said to be sentient, most other animals are not sentient. In any of these cases, an animal cannot consent to marriage, and therefore is not comparable to a consenting homosexual couple. As for the children, well, they're given equal rights already. When they reach the same age everyone else had to wait for to marry, they will be more than welcome to marry. As it stands, a child's consent means nothing unless his or her parents believe that he or she is old enough to make responsible enough decisions such as this. And that's perfectly fine with me.

And with all of that said, there is no tie between homosexual rights and pandora's box, as far as I can see.

FAF #3 Well here's an issue, mister know-it-all: Homosexuals can't reproduce!

Another associative fallacy. Many people make the mistake of assuming that sex and marriage go hand in hand. In fact there are several heterosexual couples who make a pact of abstinance, and they benefit from the rights of marriage already. Asside from that, there are those who have not been born with the capacity for reproduction, or have somewhere in their life lost this capacity. Should they also be denied the rights for marriage since they can't reproduce?

Obviously if a heterosexual couple can marry without any interest in sexual intercourse nor reproduction, then they are more than likely doing so for their affection for eachother (you can argue that they may be doing it only for tax cuts and the like, but even couples who ARE interested in sexual intercourse and reproduction sometimes marry only for the tax cuts). So what reason is there for a homosexual couple not to be able to marry out of love?

FAF #4 Still... marriage is a holy bonding. I don't want homosexuals marrying in my church!

Marriage is not a holy bonding. Atheists and agnostics alike, not to mention other less than holy religions have all enjoyed and taken advantage of the freedom America offers in the way of marriage. A marriage can take place in a church, but Las Vegas has proven that it doesn't have to. I doubt you'll have to worry about homosexuals marrying at a church, there are a great number of other places for them to do so.

FAF #5 I don't like giving them the word 'marriage'. Why can't they just be happy with civil unions?

I can understand why a lot of homosexuals would not be satisfied with so-called 'Civil Unions'. You see, on the one hand, if it does not offer the same benefits as marriage, then they are still not being treated as equals. And if it DOES offer the same benefits as marriage, then why not just call it marriage? The idea of 'separate but equal' should not exist in today's society... in fact, it's against the law. In 1954, in a case called "Brown vs. the Board of Education", the Supreme Court ruled that separate is inherently 'not equal'. To separate forms of marriage solely on a person's sexual preference would certainly fall into this category.

In 1869 Elizabeth Stanton and Susan B. Anthony created the Women's Sufferage, which advocated a constitutional ammendment for women's rights. The idea here is that men and women are to be treated as equals in the eyes of the government, as per the constitution. Since men and women are equal, it is simple enough to say that a man who wants to marry a woman is equal to a man who wants to marry a man, or a woman who wants to marry a woman.

If you have any other FAFs or any other points to make, please feel free to add to the list. I have not yet heard a valid argument in favor of the DOMA, and I'm curious to know what that argument would be if I did hear it.

-Bluezy Bunny

Riddle me this!

I'm actually in the mood for riddles lately... I've found a group of people to stump with three riddles I came up with a very long time ago (although one of them seems to have seeped out into publishing, gar... I think I'll start with that one).

1. Two girls look exactly alike, are the same exact age, and have the same mother. But they're not twins. How is this?

2. A wall is on the path of a train, the train follows the path and is not destroyed, nor is the wall. How did this happen?

3. East wing, west wing, which wing's the right wing?

A lot of times, people will try using fiction to answer these, but I assure you they're more than possible in today's reality.

And if you have any UNIQUE riddles of your own (believe me, we got tired of hearing the 'nothing' riddle) please feel free to post them.

-Bluezy Bunny

Me love Saki-saki long time!

I got some news that might make Sakura-chan very jealous of me right now.

First of all, Kelly Services was useless to me. They didn't let me interview or anything. I pretty much just handed them my resume and was given a list of numbers to call and then was shown the door. My first impression of temp agencies is that they're no better than any other job out there, and probably far less likely to hire. But with the list of phone numbers, I'd discovered that all of them point me to e-mailing my resume with an introduction letter... so I did... and I got the typical response I get from jobs: Not a damn thing.

As for TWC (Texas Workforce Commission, the place I call to apply for unemployment benefits), they STILL haven't mailed my checks in. At all. Whatsoever. Every time I call them they STILL always have a new excuse for me, too. It's awesome. It's like they really and truly REFUSE to give me a check, even though they know they're obligated to. And it's just me, apparently. Their latest excuse is that I need to send an appeal to the Air Force to report my wages for last year. Apparently my DD-214 wasn't enough for TWC, and after all the trouble they put me through to get them a second copy. So I've mailed my appeal last week. I still haven't gotten a reply or a check for that matter.

I haven't gotten my portfolio up, yet, for Aquent and other art places... but that's where the good news comes in. Saki, I'm going to enjoy telling this to you: I get to watch movies on the big screen for free. I got a job at AMC theatres as a usher. I ush like no one's business, too (or so my managers tell me)! And I've been told by one of my managers that with my computer skills carried over from the Air Force, I could easily become a projectionist, increasing my current crappy hourly wage to something slightly less crappy. Did I mention I get to watch movies for free? Ooh, and cherry icees! I love those things! Anyone that wants to come over to Dallas, I can invite one unrelated guest with me (and several related guests). Yeah, I'm pushing this, I know, but it's killer working for a theatre... one very small step closer to becoming a voice-actor... oh, yes... just you wait...

Anyway, for those of you who've helped or tried to help me get a job, I'd like to thank you if I haven't already. And perhaps even if I have. Thanks Lythe, Pinky, Corpse, Youlie, Brian, Kerstin, Strider, Wakeman (You were praying for me, I know it!), Tiger for offering me her job in New York, Saki for inspiring me to look into theatre work, and Cap'n for some odd reason. If I forgot someone, it's probably because I've been trying to find work for a year, now... either that or it's someone who doesn't read my journal.

"My manic depression is bigger than yours!"

-Bluezy Bunny

Damn...

Damn... I leave my computer alone for a whole day (against my will, mind you) and somehow it's gathered 77 malicious files and programs. Something seems fishy. These aren't just spyware things that sit around in the background, these are blatantly obvious malicious programs that jump out at you and demand to have Ad-aware and Norton spank them very hard. I'm not certain of any other effects it may have had on my computer, but so far it hasn't been doing anything weird and I haven't checked to see if all of my files are in order... that's just too many files and I don't have enough free time for myself anymore to be checking stuff like that.

It would've been nice if I could've gotten home in time to find Paranoia awake so I could ask him who the hell was on my computer today. Whomever it was certainly needs to limit his pornographic searches to his own computer. I'm not fond of spyware, especially when I'm away from my computer for so long giving it that much more time to do damage... that's the kinda stuff that makes me never want to leave this thing.

-Bluezy Bunny

Since there weren't many results from the last quiz, which I'm guessing and hoping is due to some bug that I had to wind up fixing... there's a make-up quiz to truly test your Bluezy trivia! Can you just feel the conceit here? Try not to use your real e-mail address.
And here it is, what I have so far of my portfolio:

Something to show off my shading skittlez
http://www.angelfire.com/hero/voiceman/GenePool.jpg

Something to show off my 3d max skittlez (I plan to make that brighter since I've heard complaints (even though it looks fine on my monitor)).
http://www.angelfire.com/hero/voiceman/Bluez3dFull.jpg

Something to show off my aminating skittlez
http://www.angelfire.com/hero/voiceman/BluezBattleCel.gif

Something to show how I might sketch
http://www.angelfire.com/hero/voiceman/SketchesSmall.jpg

And then something to show what that sketch might turn out to look like
http://www.angelfire.com/hero/voiceman/KamikazeKomicsKast.jpg

One other thing I plan on adding is a remake of another pic which was done on notebook paper. I have the old scan, but the new one isn't finished, yet. When it is, it'll knock out the notebook lines and that weird white stain that I think is actually a fold mark... don't ask me, though, I didn't scan it.
http://www.angelfire.com/hero/voiceman/CandyCaneHeart.jpg

Other than that is the CG I plan to work on... the quality may end up looking something like this:

http://www.angelfire.com/hero/voiceman/StarCrossedLovers.jpg

Only it'll be done in photoshop instead of groupboard, so I'll wind up having far more gradients to work with.

One thing I need, though, is an idea of what to CG. I realize I have a lot of character art and I'd like to show that I can also do background art, but right now all I'm thinking of is a gingerbread house, and that kinda ties in with the candycane heart, so I don't think that would be a good idea. (Plus I'm really rushed, so I'd like to make the project as simple as possible).

-Bluezy Bunny

L33ch is at it again...

L33ch is at it again, although I suppose he believes I'm at it again, too. In the middle of working on a CG project for my portfolio, I was told to get up and go look for a job outside of the house. Well crapmonkees...

So I've been taking my pencils and paper to various places and making the drawing parts of my portfolio. Unfortunately, without the CG part, my portfolio is incomplete (by my own personal standards). If Aquent doesn't see any of my CG skills, they'll never know what I'm capable of and that could easily be the deciding factor between getting rid of ole mister "I'm about to retire so I don't care anymore" for the new guy who seems to have enough skills in every aspect of the field of art. L33ch is really holding me back as far as hunting goes, I think... I've already been to all the small businesses around here and even some not around here. Now I don't even have a vehicle, but I do have a bright red face from all the sun we get down here (which is not very attractive, mind you, not to mention the body odor I collect is bound to turn down a lot more opportunities than before), and it's only going to get worse as Summer approaches.

If I could finish my portfolio, however, not only would I be able to apply at Aquent, but it would open up several other opportunities which I haven't yet been able to explore, and considering it would be in the field of art, I'm more likely to at least like the work I do, or possibly even enjoy it, AND I would be making a fat check every pay day.

I'll try to get my drawings scanned for you peoples, and also for the portfolio. Some of them, if not half, are just remakes of old projects that I liked, though (I'm trying to rebuild what my H-drive has lost).

Any suggestions on what I should CG as far as a portfolio goes?

"Everyone loves Bluez. Even no one loves Bluez. In fact, there isn't an anyone that doesn't love Bluez."

-Bluezy Bunny

You meme sheep, you!

Alright, so, as it goes, ask me three questions and I'll answer'em. Then you ask your friends to do the same for you. Pretty simple, I think.
Put on your gay face, it's time for more applications.

Hrm, I've been putting a lot less effort into job hunting now that my father is back and is helping me look for work (actually he's looking for work himself, so I'm more or less tagging along). It actually isn't as bad as it sounds, though... lately I'm feeling more confident about the applications I turn in and where I'm turning them in to (with the exception of fast food restaurants... I'm not really in the mood to tire myself out by living a life of Jack in the Box all over again).

Anyway, thanks to Lythe I've found Aquent... I went down there and was told that the application process takes place online, so then I look at their webpage for the application thingy and find one major problem: they'll be needing a portfolio from me. I have absolutely nothing to show as far as a portfolio. I really need to get my H-drive fixed so I can get my artwork back, and even then I'm sure I'll need more stuff to show off. Gar... it's been a while since I've had inspiration to draw something generic enough to show to business peoples (usually I did that kinda stuff in school per the art teachers' requests). Looks like I'll get to put my cotton tail to crackin'.

"It's not a tease if I do it."

-Bluezy Bunny

Curse you, Lythe! Not more quizzes!

This was actually pretty fun to make and pretty fun to answer for someone else. Just be sure you don't leave any tells in your multiple choices, or I'll wind up having known more about you than I really do (I accidently left some in my first two questions, so you should at least make a 20% on mine). Now go make your quiz so I can see how much I know about you peoples! Try not to give away your friends' e-mail addresses, though (or your own for that matter, unless you love junk mail). All you need do is type in some random word@humbug.com if it asks.

But before you do that, riddle me this:

How well do you know the Bluez?

I've come to discover that this quiz doesn't seem to want to update the scores. Harrumph! That kinda defeats the purpose... now I'll never know how well ya guys know me. *sniffle*.

"Everyone cute must be ticklish."

-Bluezy Bunny

Temp agencies are impossible to find. There's one in particular that I've been told the name of and despite looking it up on google, I can't seem to find a specific location for it... and I'm told the only way to apply for it is to actually go there. Anyone have any idea where I can find Kelly Staffing in the Dallas, Texas area? I'm hoping to find out where it is before I go back there tomorrow morning with no phone book or 'net access.
And now for something completely different.

Here's something new to add to my success as of late: I was debating my thoughts on the banning of homosexual marriages to someone in private messages. She had told me she is a Christian and put up arguments I've seen before. When all was said and done, I'd half expected her to pretend the debate never happened as most debaters will do when they're 1-upped... instead, she thanked me and admitted she was bisexual. I understand that coming out of the proverbial closet is a pretty big step for most people, so I'm feeling really proud of myself right now for helping her out in this.

As a side note, I was informed last night that America's morals were not founded upon the bible. Usually this is a debate given to the Christians, and if I'd checked my facts earlier, I could have said something about it. Thankfully enough I've always been able to find my ways around it, and now I won't have to. It's simply not true. England was founded on the morals of the bible, America was founded on the ideal of separation of church and state. I knew something didn't sound quite right with that argument before...

Oh yeah, and my benefits check never came in, even though I was told it was approved. Tomorrow is the time to call in for my next check. If I don't recieve these checks, I will NOT be putting them on my W2 forms next year. Of course, if I don't have a place to live, I won't have somewhere for the government to mail my tax return to anyway. Speaking of which, L33ch has decided that whether I have the money or not, if I don't have a job by some time near the end of march (I forgot the exact date, I think it was March 24) then I'm out of the apartment. So no matter what I do, if the economy keeps failing me, I'm doomed.

And monkees.

-Bluezy Bunny

Spread the love!

Wow. Without games around, I've taken to bugging the hell out of forums I come across with educated debates. Recently I've been going to an anime forum, and one topic of interest concerned Jr. Of course I had to go inside and see just what was going on! The author of the post had a few things to say against Jr.'s policies and spendings. A foreigner came in to discuss how great of a man Jr. is for giving her and her country things that make their lives better. So one argued that Jr. is unwise, and the other argued that he is kind. I interjected saying that he's both. The foreigner seemed to be under the impression that because Jr. is such a generous man that he must also be a great president... standing for what he believes in despite what the American citizens are saying. She even agreed with his policies against the homosexual 'fad' (you know, the fad that's been around since recorded history). I can't help but feel proud of myself for setting things straight. Despite the fact that she probably wasn't open to what I had to say, I still feel that every person whom I share facts with will no longer be capable of standing by their baseless opinions. Maybe some day they'll actually look for the facts themselves, too? It would be nice if I could enlighten the world, but I can only do so much at a time and only in my free time when I'm not looking for jobs, thanks to Jr.

I'd just like to thank my sister, even though I'm doing this mostly for her. As a child I had always wanted to experience historical events such as the equal rights movement and the depression. And although I'm going through it the difficult way, I had always seen myself being the one who enlightened the others along the way. So this is a big boost for me. And I couldn't have done it if I hadn't had the facts myself. Everyone thank my sister, and go spread enlightenment to others. I'm sure you all want our second depression and third equal rights movement not to weigh as heavily upon us as the previous carnations have because of something so trivial as ignoramuses. Of course this doesn't mean you should start a debate of your own... I only interject in debates that have already been started... and so far I've ended them all.

"People were put on this earth to have babies." I can't help but laugh at lines like this.

-Bluezy Bunny

It always comes back to this.

Today was a huge disappointment... How am I supposed to trust people when every time that I do I wind up being the most gullible person ever? Why is it that peoples' lessons to me are to trust people and life's lessons are to trust no one? It seems to me the obvious answer is that people are conceited and see no faults in themselves, either that or they like having patsies available. Well, if the tarot cards say I have to learn to trust before I can love, then I can keep love and take it to the grave with me. I'm not partial to learning life's lessons the hard way, especially not more than once.

And worst of all, I've been demeaned by a lesbian for my gender not to mention accused of having alterior motives to helping her. I had already explained my position to her, and it fell upon deaf ears. And though no one agreed with what she was saying, and despite my having proven her bigotry and slander towards me with quotes from her very posts... despite the rules expressely forbidding these acts, she was pardoned by all authorities involved. Suffice it to say I left the community. And she still believes she was in the right. I know it shouldn't get to me since she was the only delusional person, but it hurts to be told that I am capable of doing something I would never in my entire life commit, nor would I forgive anyone who has... It hurts that I am one more body stacked upon her pile of chauvenists and that she will continue performing these acts with greater vigor thanks to circumstances. It hurts, and I can't seem to let go of it. The moral? Don't help people you don't know. I've never gotten in trouble for not helping someone I don't know before. And I wonder to myself why other people don't have these lessons taught to them regularly, or at least they don't seem they need to follow the lessons.

I'm tired... I spent all of last night thinking about today and now I'm going to spend tonight making up for it. There doesn't seem to be anyone having good luck today... except the prejudice lesbian. Maybe there's a lesson in that as well...

"When life gives you lemons, squirt citris in its eyes."

-Bluezy Bunny
